Fariba Vafi (born 1962 in Tabriz, Iran) is an Iranian author.
Vafi currently lives in Tehran with her husband, daughter and son. She started to write short stories at a very young age. Some of her stories were published in Persian language literary magazines such as Adineh. Her first short story collection, Dar Omg-e-sahneh (In Depth of the Stage), was published in 1986. Her second work, another short story collection named Hatta Vaqti Mikhandidim (Even When We Were Laughing) appeared in 1999. This work was translated into Turkish as Exhausted from the Game.
Her novel, Parande-ye-man" (My Bird), was awarded the Iranian "Yalda" Literary Prize and the "Qolshiri" Prize in 2002. The work was also admired by the Mehrqan and Isfahan Prize Jury. Later novels were Tarlan (2006) and Rowyay-e-Tabbat (Dream of Tibet) (2007). More recent work is Razi dar Kucheha (A Mystery at Alleys) and she is preparing the novel of Dar Rah-e-vila (On the Way to Villa).[1]
